Zero Shadow Day 2.4

The Zero Shadow phenomenon occurs when the sun reaches its zenith, resulting in the disappearance of shadows cast by symmetrical, vertical objects. This intriguing occurrence is limited to locations between the tropics and is influenced by the sun's northern and southern motions throughout the year. The application is designed to assist users in identifying the Zero Shadow Day for any specific location.

For individuals situated between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, there are specific days during Uttarayan and Dakshinayan when the sun will be directly overhead at local noon. On these days, a vertical object, such as a pole, will not cast a shadow. These events are referred to as Zero Shadow Days (ZSD). This application supports the efforts of the Public Outreach and Education Committee of the Astronomical Society of India in promoting awareness and celebration of ZSD.
